I think this means “Sync to non-iPod MP3 players,” but I am new to this site, so I don't know for certain. Hopefully this helps someone.

This may refer to the MTP protocol. Players that use it don't show up as a simple mass storage device, but usually require some aspect of Windows Media Player. There are ways to sync MTP players with Linux, though.
